Consignments of fish/fishery products and molluscan shellfish exported to third countries are accompanied by a Health Certificate. These Health Certificates are issued by the SFPA, the competent authority under Irish and European legislation, in respect of fishery products manufactured or processed in Ireland.
Health Certificates are not required when a consignment is being exported within the European Union.
A food business operator (FBO) that requires health certificates to third countries must give reasonable notice (a minimum of two working days) to their local SFPA office to allow sufficient time for their application to be processed. Application forms for a Health Certificate and an explanatory booklet may be obtained from your local SFPA port office or downloaded from the links below. Completed application forms should be sent to the relevant local port office.
Certificates of Origin may also be required in addition to the SFPA Health Certificate. The Certificate of Origin certifies that the products in question have originated in the Republic of Ireland. An application for this certificate should be made to the relevant local port office.
A specific version of the Certificate of Origin is also available for exports to Chile, the People’s Republic of China, and Hong Kong on application from the local SFPA office.
